Interning at Drumbi

7.3.2012

A week ago, I began my summer internship at Drumbi. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, especially since it is a start up company. I’ve been to the large corporations and law firms my parents have worked at, but haven’t been exposed to any startups, besides seeing their depictions in movies like The Social Network and Pirates of Silicon Valley.

I’ve learned a lot since my first day here. I’ve been challenged and asked to do things I’m not used to. I’ve acquired numerous new skills and invaluable experience.

What’s been most impressive, however, isn’t how much I’ve learned here. It’s the environment that I’ve been able to work in.

Everyone here is extremely hard-working, yet there is a relaxed environment. The first things I noticed when walking into the office were the disco ball, bean bags, and ping pong table. I then realized how productive everyone was. There is great communication in the office, and everyone is working towards the same goal. I’ve been able to learn from everyone, and although my internship will end when I begin my senior year of high school, I know I’ll be able to use what I’ve learned for the rest of my life.

Thanks for reading,

Nico
